Police in Texas busted famously herbally-enhanced country legend Willie Nelson for cannabis possession on Friday, Nov. 26, the BBC reports. The US Border Patrol guards searched Nelson’s tour bus — presumably just after they’d finished firing their guns into a barrel full of fish — as he passed through a checkpoint near Sierra Blanca in the far eastern corner of the Lone Star state.
Bill Brooks, a spokesperson for the border police, claimed officers smelled the singer’s stash when the tour bus door was opened. Further investigation of the vehicle apparently turned up six ounces of marijuana, all of which Nelson stated belong to him. The border cops contacted the local Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Department and the Texas-born music legend was charged with possession of the narcotic before posting a $2,500 (£1,600) bond to secure his release.
