It’s now been five years since the release of the Strokes‘ last album, ‘First Impressions of Earth,’ and guitarist Nick Valensi [pictured] feels that such a long gap between releases is likely to have an adverse effect on new album, ‘Angles.’ To Valensi’s mind, the new album will fail to live up to expectations because fans will be demanding much from a band that’s been away from the scene for too long — a scenario that he compares to Guns N’ Roses‘ ‘Chinese Democracy.’

Speaking to MySpace Music, Valensi said, “I feel like it’s gonna be impossible for us to make music that’ll live up five years of nothing. It’s kind of that ‘Chinese Democracy’ syndrome. You take that much time off … no matter what you do it’s not gonna be as good as people want it to be.”
