The Big Pink A Brief History Of Love Out September 22

The Big Pink

The Big Pink is comprised of Robbie Furze and Milo Cordell, two old friends in love with digital hardcore and the narcotic effects of blessed out electronic music.

Cordell runs the Merok label, which has released dance acts Klaxons and Crystal Castles. Robbie Furze is a former guitarist with electro-punk outfit Alec Empire. Live the two are augmented by Daniel O’Sullivan from Guapo and Sunn O))), electronic artiste Jo Apps, drummer Akiko Matsuura of Pre and Comanechi, and Al O’Connell producer/engineer for the likes of The Rapture and Klaxons.

The band stationed themselves at Electric Lady Studios in New York to record and self-produce their debut A Brief History Of Love, due out September 22.

The job of mixing fell to Rich Costey (Mastodon, Muse, Rage Against The Machine) with the exception of “Velvet,” which was previously mixed by Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails, The Killers). The final result is eleven stunning tracks that chart the trials of the heart, set within a sound that combines melody and beautiful noise in equal measure.

Fader - “What do you do if you’re The Big Pink and your first two songs were so monumentally jamming that you basically had to create the most jamming monument to monumental jams ever with your next song to convince people you weren’t just lucky the first time around? You write a song called ‘Dominos’ and make it sound like this apparently. Like Einsturzende Neubauten if they really wanted to get on the radio to impress a girl instead of confuse and scare people.”
