How about some good news? Hot buzz for the New Year? Soundgarden are to reunite. No, it doesn’t look like it’s a hoax either. The Seattle grunge heroes’ Web site has this less than cryptic message: “The 12 year break is over and school is back in session. Knights of the Soundtable ride again!”

No official press release has so far been issued. But at around 1 AM ET on Jan. 1, lead singer Chris Cornell’s Twitter repeated the same message, though. Now, for some, this might not be a huge surprise. In 2008, singer Chris Cornell previewed his much-ballyhooed Timbaland-produced solo album, ‘Scream,’ on Linkin Park’s Projekt Revolution fest with astounding performances comprised of mostly Soundgarden songs. The fans went nuts. Even he must have seen the writing on the wall, especially when the album — a pop-toned effort of all things — failed to reach out to old or new fans.
