Buyer Beware: Most songs in this compilation are not *original* tracks from AR Rahman’s body of work. T-Series recently acquired rights to his music (how? and most importantly why?), and in a bizarre move, used a bunch of no-name singers (excluding maybe Mano,Sujatha & Javed Ali) to cover these songs. The recreated arrangements are less than stellar (like the weird drums in Ramta Jogi), and the singing sometimes just sad (Fanaa).
This is definitely not for music-lovers looking for an extra dose of Rahman since checking out his ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.
Note: As polluted as the songs are, they are in essence, still Rahman creations. Had to give it 2 stars.
