Satan is Watching

After releasing the experimental album The Plague earlier this year, TPB return once again to their death country roots with Satan Is Watching. This album was recorded at the same time as last years Hellfire Hymns but was not released due to uncontrollable and unholy circumstances. Includes rotten favorites Crooked Man and The Bright Side, as well as a disgusting cover of Mr. Johnny Cash’s I Walk The Line.

Those Poor Bastards have been releasing some incredibly unique songs for the last several years. Some fans were a little disappointed with their last album, “The Plague,” but I think this album will be appreciated by those who were wanting the type of upbeat songs that were on “Songs of Desperation” and “Hellfire Hymns.”

Longtime favorites like “Crooked Man” and “The Bright Side” are among the standouts. My favorites are the faster songs, but the creepy slow songs hold the album together, too. “Swallowed by Sin” features Hank III on vocals, and it’s a pretty good song. One of the songs to really stick out on the first listen is Johnny Cash’s “I Walk the Line.” Honestly, although it’s a decent cover, it doesn’t add a whole lot to the album in my opinion.

Fans of the band are going to like this CD a lot, and people wanting to hear this band for the first time would do well to try this one.

those poor bastards have done it again. all 4 of their albums are fantastic.no one has ever made country sound as evil and horrible as they have. they use old busted instruments to create a sound unlike any other, it will chill your blood and stop your heart.buy this album and you will not be disappointed, with songs like crooked man and hoist that skirt, it is impossible to be let down. and their cover of Cash’s classic “I Walk The Line”, takes the song in a direction that i could have never imagined, taking a love song and turning it into something completely dark, evil, and incredible. first time ive ever heard a Cash cover that has been done justice, the man in black would be proud of these boys from wisconsin.so pick yourself up a copy of this album and prepare to be amazed.
