“Rock & Roll is straight from hell” is one of the best new albums I’ve heard in the last 5 years! If you like rockabilly, psychobilly, country western with a twist, if you like the Reverend Horton Heat, Hank Williams III or most Punk thats not record lable pop to make a miilion bucks, Check this guy out. I heard his album and was BLOWN AWAY! Then I saw him live… three times!!! He’s unbelievable! His guitar abilities parallel Jimi Hendrix, his song writing is witty and funny and memorable, his image is… well… scary, but don’t let that stop you from being the first cool kid on your block to own the CD from the next new craze in music. Seriously, check it out, it’s sweet!
Saw a blib about Unknown in Biker Magazine, the in your face sister publication to Easyrider. They reported that Unknown practically threatened them to plug his CD in the mag. It was in a section usually reserved for new motorcycle products. Their description of the …man…was about as colorful as his own, so i searched him out and thought I would start with his first offering “Rock N Roll Is Straight From Hell”. The country ballads are traditional enough that if your grandmother was half listening and didn’t notice the lyrics and maybe even if she did…no offense to anyone’s grandma…but she might think its some honky tonker from her boot scootin days. The RAWK on the other hand is tough and swampy. Some cool crunchy rythyms and guitar lead fills and solo rambling worthy of ZZ-Top on drugs yet the voice and lyrics is Earnest T. Bass all the way. I especially liked the live performances and his verbal thrashing between selections. I would buy this CD again and look forward to seeing Unknown Hinson live.
