Who says CD and vinyl are dead? After the passing of 2010’s Record Store Day, organisers of the event have declared it a complete success, temporarily relegating the digital download culture to the backseat.

The annual event, held on Saturday, April 17, saw performances held in independent music stores across the UK and the US, whilst major bands also released exclusive records, including ‘Fool’s Day,’ Blur’s first single in seven years [singer Damon Albarn, pictured], as previously reported on Spinner.

Speaking to NME.com, Rough Trade East manager and coordinator of Record Store Day in the UK, Spencer Hickman, said: “It was a total success. Some of the stores are already telling me that they doubled last year’s total. Some stores say it has been their best ever day of trading too.”
