Despite Lady Gaga releasing a new single that sounds a wee bit like Madonna, the big news in the music world on Friday was actually LCD Soundsystem — and that, in itself, came as a bit of a shock to frontman James Murphy. When tickets for the band’s “final show” at America’s most famous arena — Madison Square Garden — seemed to vanish instantly, Murphy knew something was amiss. The answer? Scalpers.
In fact, Murphy said that he, his bandmates, and close friends all tried buying tickets themselves through Ticketmaster and even they were shut-out. Yes, really. In the meantime, tickets are going for thousands of dollars on secondary-ticketing websites. As previously reported, Murphy said that even the farewell show by the band that he’s put blood, sweat and tears into for nearly a decade just isn’t worth that kind of money.
