For festivalgoers, it is the beginning of the end — the last leg of the trip, when your feet and back could give out at any moment. For musicians, you risk playing to a smaller crowd due to performing the day after the craziest night of the festival.

So when Japandroids lead singer Brian King stepped out on stage, he seemed pleasantly surprised. “We seriously thought we were going to be playing to five people this early, so thank you for coming out,” he said.
