Gorillaz Perform Live at Coachella

No strangers to breaking convention (and records, for that matter), it looks like Gorillaz have now, successfully, become the first band to ever make the leap from all-cartoon to all-star. Much like their victorious festival performances at Coachella and Glastonbury earlier this year, fans can expect the animated band to be augmented by an entire cast of special guests this October when their ‘Plastic Beach’ tour lands in North America. Confirmed participants thus far include Little Dragon, De La Soul, Bobby Womack, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Roses Gabor, Bootie Brown, Kano and Miho Hatori. Not all of these special guests will appear with the band at every stop and, we’re told, more will be announced soon.

Of course, the core ‘Gorillaz Plastic Beach Band’ itself is a bit of a star-studded unit as it includes mastermind Damon Albarn (Blur) along with Mick Jones and Paul Simonon from “some band” called the Clash. So, yeah, this tour is kinda about to kill it. To see why we’re so excited about this, check out the official ‘Plastic Beach’ tour trailer, below the jump.
