Liam Maher, the vocalist for ’90s band Flowered Up who died in October 2009, overdosed on heroin, according to an inquest into his death. Maher, who was 41, was found dead in his London home by his girlfriend on Oct. 20.

Maher had been released from jail 11 days before the overdose, according to the UK’s Camden New Journal, and had been planning to go on vacation and subsequently move in with his girlfriend.

A St. Pancras court ruled that the cause of Maher’s death was “misuse of drugs.” According to a London coroner, Maher was found with “eight times the fatal level of heroin” in his blood, writes the New Journal. It is not believed to have been a suicide attempt.
