Fans are gathering in Liverpool On Wednesday, Feb. 9, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Beatles‘ first gig at the city’s most iconic venue.

The Cavern, a reproduction of the original club that was demolished in the 1970s by local authorities, will be the focus for celebrations that feature a set from tribute band The Mersey Beatles.

Liverpool council is to plug in a canopy of lights to cover Mathew Street, site of the original venue, that has been dubbed Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, The Guardian reports.
