“We’ve got two hours to play for you, ladies and gentlemen,” announced Broken Social Scene singer Kevin Drew at Friday night’s New York show at Webster Hall. “Let’s do this.” The Canadian collective opened with their epic single ‘World Sick’ and followed with a series of new songs from their 2010 release, ‘Forgiveness Rock Record.’ Metric and early BSS members Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw delighted the crowd by performing on several tracks, including ‘Anthem for a Seventeen-Year-Old Girl’ and ‘Sentimental X’s.’

However, the two musicians were not the only special guests to grace the stage. Early on in the show, Drew grabbed a shaggy-haired fan named Mike and pulled him on stage for ‘Forced to Love,’ claiming he needed someone to hold a sheet of lyrics. After Brendan Canning instructed the newbie not to step on his chords, the young man mouthed the lyrics to the song and danced side-by-side with Kevin, prompting the BSS frontman to say he predicted big things for Mike.
