Best Coast Play First Show With New Drummer in Chicago

Die-hard Best Coast fans filled Chicago’s Empty Bottle to full capacity on Saturday night for the band’s official Pitchfork Music Festival after-show, preferring to see the trio in a more intimate setting than in front of the thousands they would be playing for during their scheduled Sunday afternoon set.

“This is our first official show with Ali [Koehler, formally of Vivian Girls] as our new drummer,” singer Bethany Cosentino announced several songs into Best Coast’s hook-driven set. “Let’s welcome this b—- to Best Coast!” she giggled, launching into ‘Our Deal,’ a slower song from Best Coast’s debut album, ‘Crazy for You,’ which comes out this month.
