Badly Drawn Boy main man Damon Gough had a bit of a nervous breakdown — or something — at a concert in Los Angeles on Thursday night, as documented by audience members via Twitter and YouTube. The English-born pop singer-songwriter lived up to his sensitive image, almost to a fault, appearing to be so insulted by the L.A. audience that, after just four songs, he threatened to fight fans, calling them offensive names and going off on a rather bewildering rant. It remains unclear what provoked his ire, although the L.A. Weekly reports that it may have initially been caused by his displeasure with the sound at the venue.
At first it appeared as if Gough was going to cut the show uncomfortably short, reportedly declaring that he would “never play live again.” As you can hear for yourself in the below video, after taking a time-out to collect himself, Gough tries to recover by picking his guitar back up and proclaiming “I’m gonna play some more songs; just f— off if you don’t want to be here.” Amazingly, it seems, most people stayed — even after he continued to trash-talk some members of the L.A. crowd.
