Arcade Fire have joined the lineup for next year’s Benicàssim festival in Spain.
The Canadian group–made up of Win Butler and Régine Chassagne–is the fifth band to announce they will play the top European festival held on the Mediterranean coast near Valencia. They join Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, Portishead–who plays there for the first time–and Primal Scream, all unveiled previously.
The latter are set to perform a special set that promises to cover “their entire career going through all their hits as well as their masterpiece ‘Screamadelica,’” the Web site proclaims. Tickets for the Benicàssim festival, running from July 14 through July 17, 2011 are on sale now. Details can be found on the fest’s website.
Arcade Fire are currently rounding out their U.K. arena tour, with dates in Manchester and Glasgow (Dec. 11 and 12). They release their new single, ‘The Suburbs,’ the title track of their current album, on Dec. 20, backed by a video that features excerpts from the forthcoming, Spike Jonze-directed film ‘Scenes From The Suburbs.’
