Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Broadcast and Meat Puppets performing ‘Up on the Sun’ are among the highlights as Animal Collective select the line-up for next year’s All Tomorrow’s Parties (ATP) festival in the UK.
A sign of their stature as indie overlords, the band join a list of curators for the annual weekender which includes Pavement, Mogwai and Matt Groening. The first acts to be announced show an admirably eclectic range of tastes. Animal Collective will headline alongside Gang Gang Dance, Ariel Pink and Dent May.
Given that their most recent output was the audio-visual extravaganza ‘ODDSAC,’ we can also expect a strong visual element. So far, the group have picked a DJ and film set from Seattle-based label Sublime Frequencies, known for unearthing bizarre takes on pop and folk music from around the world.
